Reconstruction of PM 1 press part in Mondi Ružomberok

In recent months, the PAPCEL Co. reconstructed a PM 1 press part in Mondi Ružomberok. The aim of the project was to improve the mechanical qualities of paper and to increase work safety and efficiency of paper web threading at the machine start-up or paper break. To meet this target, the press part was provided with a new chromium-plated transfer roll with its own drive, a level equipment controlled with a pair of hydraulic cylinders to move the transfer roll from the threading upper position into the operational bottom position, a new technological suction tube in front the 3^rd press with the improved drop shape. New double oscillating doctor for the central press roll and threading pneumatic doctor was also installed.

All above-mentioned elements were installed during two-day downtime and followed by optimization and customization at start-up. Delivered equipment with the training of the machine attendance resulted in the required improvement of mechanical qualities of paper and significant time reduction when threading, together with work safety increase.

 

Successful realizations led in new negotiations about further works. The project second stage was agreed, involving the press part completion with further elements. These elements are expected to solve the irregular behavior of the paper, particularly in its edge parts. New technological suction tubes with two short suction zones on the edges of the machine as well as new special stabilizers (suction boxes) will be installed. Both will significantly improve retaining of the paper on the felt edges and will improve even more the whole threading process.

This year the PAPCEL Co. also overhauls for the same customer a second-hand drum thickener OK 4000. Thickener was produced and delivered by our company in 2004.
