In last December it came to a planned 5-day downtime with the aim to rebuild the press part in the Žimrovice paper mill. It was focused on the complete replacement of the first continuous press by a combi press, incl. the felt guiding, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics and control system. Due to complete exchange of the press part bearing structure in the basement, the second press had to be disassembled and subsequently installed again. It´s top press roll and felt guiding system were modificated as well. Second-hand parts, particularly press rolls from the sister company in Wiesloch, were used during the realization, which resulted in a significant reduction of total costs.

The first operating results show that the rebuild met its expectations, particularly by increasing the dry matter value after the press part and improving the mechanical parameters of the paper by the pick-up installation.
The aim of the reconstruction, which will be followed by other works in near future, is to increase the PM capacity up to 86 kt/year, by increasing the maximal operating machine speed from the 400 to 600 m/min.
